Under General, you can choose if you want to activate your phone. You should only do that if you are using an unofficial carrier and want to unlock your iPhone. Step 7: You will then be taken to the Cydia Settings page. This step will allow you to pre-install jailbreak apps on your iPhone. Cydia Installer should be selected by default. If not, make sure to select it, then click the blue arrow to continue. I chose to save it to my desktop. It will probably ask you for your admin password.

Click ok to proceed. Connect your device to the Mac and open iTunes. Put the device into DFU mode For this purpose, turn off the device and hold home and power button for exactly 10 seconds.
Also, Make sure the iPhone screen is totally blank. After it reboots, your device will be jailbroken with Cydia on homescreen. You can now restore from an iTunes backup or choose to set it up as a new device.
Save both files on your desktop. PwnageTool should offer you the option to use the firmware you downloaded in step 1, or to browse for a firmware on your computer. If you downloaded it to your desktop, PwnageTool should find it for you automatically.
