So how did no one piece together Naruto's heritage? Keep me logged in on this device. Forgot your username or password? I could get past every "believe it" and Naruto sounding like he has a throat disease, but after the bell test, there's something wrong that watching with subs couldn't even help.
I'm not knocking the idea of a dumb protagonist even though it's played out in both the east and west, but Naruto hit critical mass in one episode. Falling for Kakashi's first fake bell trap, that's expected.
Falling for it again, fine. Naruto's tired and hungry and far from his best. But then he gets himself free and falls for a THIRD trap, going to get the lunches that are inconspicuously in the distance. After Kakashi's lesson about bait and being trapped the same way minutes ago. It's not like an impulse, either. Naruto had to hike to get to the lunches, didn't ever reconsider on the way there.
And couldn't he have used clones to pick them up? That would have been better anyway, Naruto could have tried to use clones and Kakashi would fool him with his own clones which would show that even his best techniques could be done better by a Jonin.

If he had brought Kakashi from the beginning, he would have saved the village from devastation and heartache.
A team effort between Sasuke and Naruto, the shuriken deception was a multi-layered ploy forcing Zabuza to release Kakashi.
It involved throwing a shuriken at Zabuza, which would then circle around and split into two. The Mist Swordsman would be able to adapt, jumping over the second weapon, only for it to be revealed as Naruto in disguise.
Then, the knucklehead ninja threw a kunai knife at him in the middle of his jump , forcing him to release Kakashi in order to protect himself. It remains one of the greatest displays of creativity between Sasuke and Naruto. Naruto's early fixation with Sakura is an inexplicable and uncomfortable facet of the early series.
While this flame would diminish in Naruto: Shippuden, it is difficult to understand why it would ever manifest in the first place. Sakura is physically abusive and verbally condescending toward him, reliably showing more interest in Sasuke.
Everything he did annoyed her barring a few moments of heroism , and it isn't as if he was desperate. Hinata was much more receptive to his company. One would not be blamed for distrusting Gaara or his potential to be redeemed. He has literally crushed the life from his enemies, nearly destroyed the Leaf, and even attempted to kill an innocent, hospitalized kid.
However, Naruto was able to relate to him more than merely as a Jinchuriki, but as a person. Little-did-we-know that one of the most built-up, mysterious, and frankly hyped characters in manga was really just a cry-baby loser -- believe it!
Instead of being some mastermind behind everything or at least an interesting character, Obito turned out to be a pawn with a laughable motivation. I think even M. Night Shyamalan would be impressed with the number of twists the final arc of Naruto delivered.
How could you possibly care what happens in this universe anymore? And a big reason for the original being better is the scale was much smaller and drawn back. Shippuden just became gods vs. Kishimoto is a heck-of-a good artist and he really showcases that in the early days of Naruto. I mean just look at characters like Gaara, Zabuza, heck, even Naruto just oozed personality making them feel all the more lovable.
But as time went on Kishi just had too much on his work to continue the upkeep of the artwork and it unfortunately shows. Just look at a comparison of pre-time-skip vs. Ugh, the Pain Arc… Many fans, myself included, would argue this is the point in the series when the quality took a huge dip, and all because of wasted potential.
Behind Tobi, Pain was the most hyped up character for his ridiculous strength and mystique that had every fan intrigued. Members Registered members Current visitors New profile posts. I never understood why his friends liked calling him an idiot because we as an audience saw how smart he was in battle.
