What is waistband curtain

At Antonio Valente, we ensure that each waistband and belt loop is matched. For example, if making a pinstriped trouser, the stripes on the waistband will align perfectly at the back seam and each belt loop will have a stripe on it. When properly matched, a trouser is aesthetiaclly pleasing and you can be assured that corners were not cut. All belt loops and back waistband match on all Antonio Valente trousers. Turn your attention to the front of the waistband. There are two buttons for fastening, one on the outside and one inside.

The outside button should be accurately placed so when the extension is buttoned, it will line itself up with the waistband. More importantly, the hook and bar, which fastens above the zipper, must be aligned with the zipper to avoid puckering around that area. If all the fasteners are out of whack, then so too will the trouser. The French fly button sits on the inside of the wiastband and keeps it in line for a consistent look. The cuttable width of a given fabric.

Long staple woolen fibers that go through the additional process of combing prior to spinning and produce a smoother, more lustrous and harder finished fabric. Washdown A change in appearance to give a worn or laundered look resulting from washing, scouring, chemical, mechanical, or other treatments, or combination of treatments.

Water Repellency The characteristic of a fiber, yarn, or fabric to resist wetting or saturation. Water Resistance The characteristic to resist wetting and or easy penetration by water.

Waterproofing A garment made with water-resistant fabric with the addition of taping or flexible cement on all seams or stitching lines to prevent water penetration at those points. Weaving The process of interlacing yarns at a degree angle. Weight Fabric Usually given in weight per sq. Welt Jacquard A weft knitting technique that carries the various colors and yarns for a fancy textile on the reverse side until they are required in the surface design. Welt Pocket A pocket that is set-in or cut-in and has one or two folds of fabric that bind or pipe the opening.

If it is a hand top or machine made it is still called a curtain. The purpose is to cover the internal materials of the waistband construction.

Like curtains cover a window. Trouser that does not have a curtain type construction would be the way jeans are made with the cloth folded over. Same cloth on inside of waistband as outside. Joined Mar 24, Messages 2, Reaction score An inner curtained waistband elegantly covers the seam work, helps enables the pockets to lie flat and reinforces the waistband. Yes, found mostly on high end trousers like Incotex, Kiton, some Brioni, etc. From your descriptions, I gather the curtained waistband is the gray and slightly lighter colored part that covers the interior of the waistband.

This is so since, in the areas of the strip 20 which register with the flaps 14, 15, the additional thicknesses provided by such flaps assure against migration of the adhesive melt. The areas above and below the folds 14, 15 are, as above noted, protected against migration due to the fact that they cannot be subjected to the same degree of migration-inducing pressures to which the areas in registry with the folds 14, 15 are subjected. Thus, the curtain 16 is substantially universal in its application since the amount of adhesive on the strip 20 need not be adjusted for lighter or heavier fabrics, the amount sufficient for the heaviest fabric being provided with no danger of exposure of the adhesive at the outer face of the garment where the curtain is used in conjunction with a lightweight fabric.

A further advantage of the construction lies in the fact that the primary attachment of the strip 20 is to a layer spaced from the surface of the base fabric and waistband.

This permits a degree of lateral stretchability without puckering which cannot be obtained where the curtain is secured directly to the base fabric or waistband by blind stitching or felling. While it will be observed that some attachment of the strip directly to the waistband and base fabric occurs above and below the folds 14, 15, the fact that this attachment occurs at spaced points from the stitching attaching the strip to the curtain rather than at a single central line or stress area, adds to the ability of the garment to be free of puckering when subjected to longitudinal or diagonal stress components.

While the registry of the attachment strip with the inwardly folded portions of the waistband and base fabric, i. However, in such cases a greater degree of care in the selection of the adhesive should be exercised, with particular emphasis being placed upon matching the quantity of adhesive to the thickness of the base or waistband fabric, so that firm attachment is secured but exposure of adhesive melt at the outside of the garment is avoided.

Having thus described the invention and illustrated its use, what is claimed as new and is desired to be secured by Letters Patent is:. A structure in accordance with claim 1 wherein the combined width of said folded over edges is slightly less than the width of said band. A structure in accordance with claim 1 wherein the thickness of material defining said folded over edges is suflicient to prevent substantial migration of said layer through said edges and to the face of said base fabric and waistband.

A curtain for attachment to the inner face of a garment at the waistband comprising an elongated liner strip member, an elongated open weave stiffener member secured to said liner, said stiffener being of lesser width than said liner, and an elongated open wave band secured to said liner and stiffener by a longitudinally extended line of stitching disposed generally centrally of said band, the marginal edges of said band being free of attachment to said stiffener and liner, said band being disposed on the face of said stiffener opposite said liner, said band, liner and stilfener being disposed in parallelism, said band being disposed adjacent the lower marginal edge of said stifiener, the face of said band remote from said stiffener 10 carrying heat activated adhesive components, the stiffener adjacent face of said band being essentially free of adhesive.
